Located on a the corner bloc at 301 W. Washington in Mission Hills, TOMA SOL if redefining the dive scene. Owner Roxy and her husband are pursuing their goal of bringing craft beer and estate wine to San Diegans, at an affordable price. The tavern is cozy and welcoming, a perfect place to meet friends for a beer-tasting adventure or to sit at the spacious bar and enjoy the pleasingly-priced menu. In a buffet-style spread, we enjoyed: Appetizers: -House Salad -Spinach Dip, Bruschetta and Creamy Buffalo Chicken Dip - served with grilled artisan bread and pita bread slices Entrée: -Toma Sol Flatbread- Marinara, Mozzarella Cheese, Marinated Portobello Mushrooms, Diced Tomatoes and fresh, chopped Spinach -Bacon Chicken Ranch Flatbread- Ranch, Mozzarella Cheese, Grilled Chicken, diced Bacon and Tomatoes -Buffalo Grilled Cheese- Grilled Chicken marinated in Frank's Hot Sauce, Bell Peppers, Onions, Cheddar and Blue Cheese -Caprese- Sliced Tomato, fresh Mozzarella, fresh Basil and Pesto Dessert: -Brownie Bites Full TOMA SOL Menu Hands-down, anything with the word buffalo in the title is a MUST try. Hint* the Buffalo Chicken Dip, pictured above in all of its ooey-gooey goodness, and the Buffalo Grilled Cheese - once you go buffalo, you can't go back.
I honestly ended up using this dip on everything, yes even as my salad dressing. It was that good. Owner Roxy was a fabulous host who welcomed us with full plates, beers on tap and a couple words of wisdom. An experienced restaurateur, she lives and breathes the mission of TOMA SOL. An affordable spot for superior spirits, comfort food and a neighborhood feel perfect for locals. I know I will definitely be back for more than my share of buffalo goodness and a Club 12 t-shirt. Stay Hungry, Stephanie
